Route 50 road work through Fairfax City to start Thursday

us-50-signThe City of Fairfax has launched its long-anticipated Fairfax Boulevard roadway reconstruction project.

Beginning Thursday (June 12) and lasting through August, road crews will mill and replace asphalt and rebuild the bridge on Route 50/Fairfax Boulevard from Rebel Run to Fairfax Circle (both eastbound and westbound).

All roadwork will be done in stages, and up to two lanes may be closed in both directions during scheduled work.

This work will be conducted entirely at night:
Weekday nights: 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Weekend nights: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Inclement weather may affect the schedule, which is subject to change. Drivers should expect delays during these times and may consider alternate routes.
