A $1.13 million Great Falls home was destroyed in an early-morning fire Sunday. Firefighters encountered a large home fully involved with heavy fire showing from all three floors when they arrived at 1036 Leigh Mill Road.

The incident commander called for a second alarm and a tanker task force because the home is located in a non-hydrant area. Firefighters initiated a water shuttling operation and also dammed a nearby creek to use as their primary water supply.

It took firefighters approximately 90 minutes to bring the fire under control. There were no injuries.

An adult male in a nearby guest house escaped unharmed. The 12,000 square foot home was under renovation and unoccupied when the fire broke out. Firefighters were able to protect and save an adjacent pool house and guest home.

The fire is under investigation.
