Gainesville man dies in townhouse fire

A Gainvesville man died in a townhouse fire early Thursday morning, Prince William County officials reported.

Fire and rescue units were called to a two-alarm townhouse fire located in the 8400 block of Tackhouse Loop in Gainesville about 5 a.m. Thursday morning.

They began suppression operations while conducting a search for occupants. They found the body of an adult man occupant of the home. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal’s Office and the death is under investigation by Prince William County police.
