Shapewear sensation Spanx has opened its first standalone retail store in Tysons Corner Center. It’s the first of a series of openings in upscale shopping centers this fall.
Spanx stores will be rolling out the red carpet to everyone who enters, giving fans the ability to touch, feel and try a wide assortment of SPANX products while receiving the VIP treatment from the store’s “Transformation Team.”
â€œWe want to provide fans with an intuitive, interactive way to shop all of our products, exceptional service and a fun, empowering experience,â€ says Spanx Founder Sara Blakely. â€œThe Spanx store will be a place where everybody knows your name…and your bra size!â€
Blakely says it will be easy to shape up from top to bottom at the lingerie stores.
â€œWith a growing product collection and fan base, our own dedicated space was inevitable,â€ says Spanx CEO Laurie Ann Goldman. â€œWe knew that Tysons Corner was the perfect fit, and after signing the lease were happy to learn that it was home to the first Apple store…not bad retail karma!â€
Blakely likes to tell the story of how she came up with the idea for Spanx. She says she was getting ready for a party when she realized she didn’t have the right undergarment to provide a blemish-free look under white pants. Armed with scissors and sheer genius, she cut the feet off her control top pantyhose and the Spanx revolution began.
The Spanx brand now houses more than 200 products ranging from slimming apparel and swimsuits, to bras, activewear and men’s undershirts.
