Herndon Department Store Fire Intentionally Set

A fire that investigators say was intentionally set damaged the Kohl’s Department Store at 2100 Centreville Road in Herndon yesterday (Tuesday, May 22.).

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department units arriving on the scene at about 6:20 PM encountered heavy smoke throughout the store. The seat of the fire was at a clothing rack in the women’s section. Sprinklers were activated and extinguished the bulk of the fire.

Firefighters checked for fire and extension and ventilated the store, which was evacuated when smoke alarms sounded.  There were no injuries.

Damage is undetermined and the investigation continues.
