Juvenile Charged With Setting Fire In Park

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department fire investigators have charged a male juvenile with setting a fire at a Fairfax County Park Authority facility, yesterday (Thursday, December 15) in the Centreville area.

The fire on Tuesday (December 13) at Braddock Park, 13451 Braddock Road, started in a men’s restroom inside the park. The fire was primarily contained to the trash receptacle; however, there was residual damage to the structure.

The 17-year-old was charged with one count of Fire Code 18.2-80 (burning or destroying a building or structure) — a class 4 felony.

Damage is estimated at $5,000.
