Latest Road Closure Schedule

photoVDOT crews are taking advantage of the pleasant Fall weather to move forward with the massive projects in the area.  Here’s the latest for the week ahead:

* EXTENDED CLOSURE HOURS Friday night Oct. 14, into Saturday morning Oct. 15 and Saturday night into Sunday morning Oct. 16, crews will work until 9 a.m. on I-495 Inner and Outer loops between I-395 and Arlington Boulevard.
* FULL ROAD CLOSURES of I-495 north/west (Inner Loop) at I-395, I-495 south at Arlington Boulevard, I-66 east at I-495, Lee Highway at I-495. Details and detour information below.
* TEMPORARY TOTAL CLOSURES of up to 30 minutes on I-495 north and south between Oak Sreet overpass Lee Highway overpass and on Braddock Road at Port Royal Rd.

DULLES CORRIDOR METRORAIL PROJECT

Nighttime work – Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

I-495 south from Old Dominion Dr. overpass to Exit 46, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) – Three right lanes closed Sunday – Friday nights for pier work.
* Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. east and west from Wiehle Ave. to Reston Pkwy. – Left lane closed Sunday – Saturday nights for station work.
* Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. east and west Hunter Mill Rd. overpass to Beulah Rd. overpass – Left lane closed Monday – Friday nights for ditch maintenance.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east and west at Spring Hill Rd. – Left turn lane closed Sunday – Friday nights for utility work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east from Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) to Westwood Center Dr. – Right lane closed Monday and Tuesday nights for concrete work.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east at Spring Hill Rd. and Westpark Dr. – Two left turn lanes closed Tuesday – Thursday nights for paving and station work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east from Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) to Westpark Dr. – Two left lanes closed Monday – Saturday nights for concrete work.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west from Spring Hill Rd. to Westpark Dr. – Multiple lanes closed Sunday – Friday nights for utility work.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west at Gosnell Rd. – Two left turn lanes closed Sunday night for paving. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
* Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and south at Tysons Blvd. – Turn lanes to Tysons Blvd. closed Friday and Saturday night for pier work. Traffic will be directed to follow posted detour signs.
* Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south to I-495 south – Ramp closed Sunday – Friday nights for pier work. Traffic will be directed to continue south, make a left onto International Dr. south, make a left onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east and follow signs to I-495 south.
* Westpark Dr. east and west at Leesburg Pike (Route 7) – Road closed Sunday night for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to follow detour signs.
* Gosnell Rd. north at Leesburg Pike (Route 7) – Right lane closed Sunday night for utility work.
* Police will be on site for motorist safety.
All closures are weather permitting.

Ongoing work

The right lane of southbound Dolley Madison Blvd. (Route 123) is closed through Sept. 2011. For details click here.

I-495 CAPITAL BELTWAY HOT LANES

Nighttime work – Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. unless otherwise noted.

* I-495 north between Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) and Exit 43, George Washington Pkwy. – Right lane closed Saturday night for lane shift.
* I-495 north at Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) – Three right lanes closed Friday night for lane shift.
* I-495 south at Exit 43, George Washington Pkwy. – Right lane closed Saturday night for lane shift.
* I-495 south to Exit 45B, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east – Ramp closed Monday – Thursday nights for bridge overhang work. Traffic will be directed to continue south to Exit 46B, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) east.
* I-495 north to Exit 45A, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west – Ramp closed Monday – Thursday nights for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west, stay to the left, follow signs to I-495 south, and take Exit 45A, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west.
* Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. west at I-495 – Road closed Monday – Thursday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) west. Motorists will not be tolled.
* Dulles International Airport Access Hwy. east at I-495 – Road closed Monday – Thursday nights for overhang work. Traffic will be directed to Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) east. Motorists will not be tolled.
* Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west at I-495 – Road closed Sunday – Thursday nights for bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 north to Exit 44, Georgetown Pike (Route 193) west, stay to the left, follow signs to I-495 south and take Exit 45A, Dulles Connector Rd. (Route 267) west.
* Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and south to I-495 north – Ramps closed Monday and Tuesday nights for overhead sign work. Traffic will be directed to take International Dr. south, make a left onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east and follow signs to I-495 north.
* I-495 south to Exit 47B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east – Ramp closed Monday – Thursday nights for steel beam erection. Traffic will be directed to take Exit 47A, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west, stay to the left, make a U-turn at International Dr. onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west to I-495 south – Ramp closed Monday – Thursday nights for steel beam erection. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 north to Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, stay to the right and follow signs to I-495 south.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west at I-495 – Road closed Monday – Thursday nights for steel beam erection. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 north to Exit 46A, Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-495 south and take Exit 47A, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east and west at I-495 – Left lane closed Thursday night for Steel beam erection.
* I-495 north at Exit 47, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) – Right lane closed Thursday and Friday nights for steel beam erection and painting.
* I-495 north to Exit 47A, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west – Ramp closed Thursday and Friday nights for steel beam erection and painting. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Exit 47B, Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east, stay to the left, make a U-turn at George Marshall Dr. onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west to I-495 north – Ramp closed Thursday and Friday nights for steel beam erection and bridge painting. Traffic will be directed to continue west, make a right onto International Dr. north, make a right onto chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to I-495 north.
* Leesburg Pike (Route 7) east to I-495 north – Ramp closed Thursday and Friday night for steel beam erection and paving. Traffic will be directed to continue east, make a U-turn at George Marshall Dr. onto Leesburg Pike (Route 7) west, make a right onto International Dr. north, right onto Chain Bridge Rd. (Route 123) north and follow signs to I-495 north.
* I-495 south from Oak St. overpass to Exit 49, I-66 west – Three right lanes closed Sunday – Saturday night for bridge painting and demolition. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
* I-495 north to Exit 49B, I-66 east – Ramp closed Sunday – Saturday nights for overhead sign installation. Traffic will be directed take Exit 49A, I-66 west to Exit 62, Nutley St. south, stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 east.
* I-66 west to I-495 south – Ramp closed Sunday – Saturday nights for bridge demolition. Traffic will be directed to continue west, take Exit 62, Nutley St. south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-66 east and then signs to I-495 south.
* I-66 east at I-495 – Road closed Sunday – Saturday nights for bridge demolition. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 south to Exit 52B, Little River Tpk. (Route 236) east, stay to the right, follow signs to I-495 north to exit 49B, I-66 east.
* I-66 east HOV to I-495 – Ramps closed Sunday – Saturday night for bridge demolition. Traffic will be directed to use the I-66 east general purpose (right exits) to access I-495.
* I-66 east from Cedar Ln overpass to Gallows Rd. overpass – Two right lanes closed Sunday – Saturday night for overhead sign installation.
* Lee Hwy. (Route 29) north or south at I-495 – Road closed Sunday – Saturday nights for paving. Traffic will be directed to use a single lane of either Lee Hwy. (Route 29) north or south.
* I-495 south at Exit 50, Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) – Road closed Friday and Saturday nights for bridge joint work. Traffic will be directed to use the collector distributor road.
* Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) west at I-495 – Two right lanes closed Sunday – Friday for utility work.
* Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) west to I-495 south – Ramp closed Sunday – Friday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue west to Gallows Rd. (Route 650) south and follow signs to I-495 south.
* Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) east to I-495 north – Ramp closed Tuesday – Friday nights for signal work. Traffic will be directed to take I-495 south to Exit 52B, Little River Tpk. (Route 236) east, stay to the right and follow signs to I-495 north.
* Gallows Rd. (Route 650) north and south at I-495 – Right lane closed Wednesday – Friday nights for sign installation.
* Gallows Rd. (Route 650) north and south to I-495 – Ramp closed Wednesday – Friday night for sign installation. Traffic will be directed to take Arlington Blvd. (Route 50) east and follow signs to I-495 north.
* I-495 north and south at Exit 52, Little River Tpk. (Route 236) – Three left lanes closed Monday – Saturday night for traffic shift.
* I-495 south to Exit 54A, Braddock Rd. (Route 620) west – Ramp closed Sunday – Wednesday nights for signal work. Traffic will be directed to take Exit 54B, Braddock Rd. (Route 620) east, stay to the right, follow signs to I-495 north and stay to the right entering back onto Braddock Rd. (Route 620) west.
* Braddock Rd. (Route 620) east and west at Port Royal Rd. – Two lanes closed Sunday – Wednesday nights for signal work. Expected intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight.
* I-495 north and south from Hemming Ave. underpass to Wakefield Park Pedestrian bridge – Three right lanes closed Friday and Saturday nights for a traffic shift. Expect intermittent full road closures of up to 30 minutes after midnight
* I-495 north/west (Inner Loop) at I-395 – Road closed Sunday – Saturday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to take Exit 170, I-395 north to Exit 2, Edsall Rd. west, stay to the right, follow signs to I-395 south and then signs to I-495 Inner Loop.
* AND
I-495 north/west (Inner Loop) to Exit 169 B/A, Franconia/Springfield (Route 644) – Ramp closed Sunday – Saturday nights for bridge work. DETOUR
* I-495 Inner Loop to I-395 north – Ramp closed Sunday – Saturday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to continue on the Inner Loop to Exit 54A, Braddock Rd. (Route 620) west, stay to the left, follow signs to I-495 south (Outer Loop) and then signs to I-395 north.
* I-495 Outer Loop to I-395 north – Ramp closed Sunday – Saturday nights for bridge work. Traffic will be directed to take I-95 south to Exit 166B, Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) south, stay to the right, follow signs to I-95 north and then signs to I-395.
* I-395 north at I-495 – Right lane closed Sunday – Saturday nights for bridge work.
* I-395 south to Exit 1B, Franconia/Springfield (Route 644) – Ramp closed Sunday – Saturday nights for equipment installation. Traffic will be directed to Exit 1D, I-495 north to Tysons Corner, take Exit 54A, Braddock Rd. (Route 620) west, stay to the left, make a left at the signal onto I-495 south (Outer Loop) and follow signs to Franconia/Springfield (Route 644)
* Police will be on site for motorist safety.

Daytime work – Closures occur between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

Expect single lane closures on the Inner and Outer loops of I-495 from Springfield Interchange to beyond the Dulles Toll Rd. (Route 267) within the project area including all connecting arterials.
* All closures are weather permitting.

Richmond Hwy (Route 1) south at Pohick Rd. – Single lane closed Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for ground and signal work.
* Richmond Hwy (Route 1) south at Belvior Rd. – Single lane closed Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.for road widening and signal work.

BRAC / PRELIMINARY MARK CENTER CLOSURES

BRAC / FAIRFAX COUNTY PARKWAY EXTENSION PROJECT

Daytime work – Closures occur between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

* Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) north and south from Barta Rd. to Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900)- Single lane closed Monday – Friday for construction in median or shoulder widening.
* Franconia Springfield Pkwy. (Route 7900) east from the Fairfax County Pkwy. (Route 7100) to Accotink Creek bridge – Right lane closed Monday – Friday for the addition of a new exit ramp.
* Hooes Rd. east and west at Barkers Ct. – Flagger operation Monday – Friday for material delivery.
