Flood Recovery Meeting Set for Huntington Community

The Huntington community will be updated on the flooding recovery efforts on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. in the community rooms of the Mount Vernon Government Center, 2511 Parkers Lane, Mount Vernon.

Topics to be discussed include the community’s Housing Conservation Plan and the Comprehensive Plan for the duplexes north of Huntington Avenue.  Some community members have expressed a desire to the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to remove those homes prone to flooding from the Conservation Plan to permit redevelopment if we are unable to provide a flood protection project.

The meeting will be a forum for the community to discuss if they want to preserve their homes and neighborhood or permit redevelopment to occur.
