A ramp that connects Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) to Boudinot Drive in Springfield was damaged by flood waters Thursday night, Sept. 8, is now under repair and is expected to be closed until at least Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011.
The ramp connects Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) north to Boudinot Drive, and connects Boudinot Drive east and west, at the intersection of Fullerton Road, to Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) north. Motorists accessing Boudinot Drive from Fairfax County Parkway will be detoured to travel further north to Barta Road, which becomes Rolling Road south, then turn onto Fullerton Road east to access Boudinot Drive. Motorists traveling from Boudinot Drive east and west to Fairfax County Parkway north will be detoured to Fullerton Road west, to Rolling Road north, then follow signs to Fairfax County Parkway.
Crews are working to make the necessary emergency repairs to the ramp and aims to have it reopened in time for morning commuters on Tuesday, Sept. 13.
The ramp was damaged when flood waters washed away earth and materials put in place to support the affected part of the structure. Crews will place new concrete under the affected portion of the ramp that will reinforce the structure.
