County residents are facing some tax-filing deadlines within the next few weeks
You must file your state income tax return by May 2 this year. Normally, the filing deadline is May 1. But, because it falls on a Sunday, returns can be filed or postmarked by Monday, May 2. Keep in mind, penalties apply on all returns filed or paid after the deadline.

If you recently moved to Fairfax County or purchased a car, you must register the vehicle within 60 days.
If you have business personal property, or other personal property, such as boats, boat motors, mobile homes or trailers, a return must be filed with Fairfax County by May 1.
Again, since May 1 is on a Sunday, returns received or postmarked by Monday, May 2, will be considered on time.
