Officers Save A Life With just Seconds to Spare

Quick-acting Fairfax County police officers bashed in a car window, pulled a woman out and dragged her to safety just seconds before the vehicle burst into flames late last week.

A 23-year-old Ashburn woman crashed her Mustang into a bulldozer in the construction area along Route 50 prior to Waples Mill Road around 2:15 a.m. last Friday, April 15.

Lieutenant Kevin Barrington arrived on the scene, closely followed by Officers Jessica Kane and Nate Sloan. Together, they dragged the woman to safety, tried to douse the flames and kept other motorists away from the wreckage.

The unidentified was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she was treated for minor, non life-threatening injuries. Officers later charged her with driving under the influence of alcohol.
