Lake Accotink Park is hosting three Spring Break camps during the week of April 18 through April 22. Two camps will be held onsite at the park, and a tennis camp will take place on nearby courts.
Doggone Fun is an innovative camp that takes the bark out of dog care. Participants bring their dogs to camp and learn practical skills while developing a lifelong bond with their pets. The cost is $175 per camper and dogs must be leashed and vaccinated with a visible rabies tag. Camps run from 9 a.m. to noon.
Lake Accotink’s loop trail is the perfect setting for 9 to 14-year-olds to attend Adventure Racing Camp. Campers are educated in mountain biking, hiking, and paddle sports. The importance of teamwork, environmental conservation, and overcoming obstacles are also stressed. At the end of the week, campers participate in an exciting race. The $175 fee includes all equipment needed for the camp. Adventure Camp meets from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
A generous donation from Metro Run & Walk in Springfield will cover the registration fee for four children who would otherwise not be able to attend. This funding will allow them a rare opportunity to bike, run, row, be active, develop confidence, and enjoy the great outdoors!
Tennis Camp lets children ages 6 to 10 swing into action and learn new skills while improving old ones. Campers meet at 7400 Highland Street and bring their own rackets and two cans of balls. Camp meets from 9 a.m. to noon and the cost is $129 per person.
Lake Accotink Park is located at 7500 Accotink Park Road in Springfield, Va.
