County Students Win Top Awards In Virginia History Day Competition

Six Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) students won first place awards in the Virginia History Day competition held recently in Williamsburg.

First place winners were:

  • Chloe Baker of Lorton Station Elementary School, “The Alien and Sedition Acts:  An Open Violation,” first place in Junior Individual Documentary.
  • Andy Chen, Alyssa Debra, and Danielle Hafer of West Springfield High School, “Rice, Potato, and Pasta into the Melting Pot?” first place in Senior Group Exhibit.
  • Alex Moree and Patrick Kelly of West Springfield High School, “Peace?  The Congress of Vienna and the Revolutions of the 19th Century,” first place in Senior Group Website.

David Spoko of Whitman Middle School earned a second place award for “Kill the Indian, Save the Man:  The Debate Over Indian Assimilation,” in Junior Individual Exhibit.
