Mark Center Highway Improvements Completed

The Virginia Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration’s Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division have completed two improvements on the roads surrounding the Mark Center in Alexandria.

The transportation improvements included a new left lane on Mark Center Avenue and an additional right lane on eastbound Seminary Road from Mark Center Avenue, down the ramp to I-395 South.

These two road improvements will enhance the traffic flow in and around the Mark Center Avenue and Seminary Road intersection.

There are plans for additional improvements around the Mark Center as that include interchange improvements at Beauregard Street and Seminary Road. These improvements will include turn-lane expansions and the elimination of part of the island on the eastbound side of Seminary Road to create an additional northbound lane on Beauregard Street. These improvements require right-of-way acquisition that will occur over the rest of this year as final plans are developed, and that construction will be completed next July 2013.

Connolly Claims Postal Service Lacks Authority to Cut Saturday Deliveries, But Others Beg to Differ
